33 pilotes ont participés à cette édition du concours de Oakville, en banlieue Ouest de Toronto, Ontario. Ils venaient des états de New York et du Michigan, et des provinces d'Ontario et du Québec. L'évènement était aussi le Championnat Canadien ainsi que le Championnat de la zone Ontario sud-ouest. Jim Eichenberg était encore une fois le directeur de l'évènement et son expérience à permis à toutes les classes de faire 6 vols. Il y avait 2 lignes de vols et donc généralement 2 avions en vol en même temps. Le jeune Nicolas Pinzon a été impressionnant en gagnant la classe Sportsman. Karl Mueller a été malchanceux puisque son avion a été gravement endommagé au premier vol lorsqu'il en a perdu le contrôle pour une raison inconnu. John Santonocito a endommagé une aile de son Hydeout lorsqu'il a accroché un arbre à l'atterrissage de son premier vol. Dan Woolney a eu beaucoup de problèmes avec son YS140DZ avec 5 pannes en vol. Del Rykert a lui aussi eu des problèmes de moteur qui l’ont empêché de voler. Xavier Mouraux a eu une panne de son moteur OS160FX au premier vol à cause d’une bougie semble-t-il. Il a préféré continuer le concours avec son autre avion équipé d’un YS120AC. Andrew Jesky a facilement remporté la classe Expert et n’a pas volé le dimanche. Michael Siddall a fait de même en FAI et limité les risques pour le seul avion qui lui reste après un midair au concours de Sayre. 33
pilots took part in this year Oakville contest, in near Toronto, Ontario. They
came from the states of New York and Michigan, and the provinces of Ontario and
Quebec. The event was also the Canadien Championship and the Ontario South-West
zone Championship. Jim Eichenberg was once again the director of the event and his
experience allowed all the classes to have 6 flights. There were 2 lines of
flights and thus generally 2 planes in flight at the same time. The young
Nicolas Pinzon was impressive by winning the Sportsman class. Karl Mueller was
unlucky when its plane was seriously damaged in the first flight when it lost
control for a reason unknown. John Santonocito damaged a wing of his Hydeout
when it hung a tree on approach on its first flight. Dan Woolney had many
problems with its YS140DZ with 5 dead sticks. Del Rykert also had engine
problems, which prevented him from flying. Xavier Mouraux had a dead stick with
his OS160FX on the first flight probably because of a glow plug. He preferred to
continue the contest with his other plane equipped with a YS120AC. Andrew Jesky
easily won the Expert class and didn’t fly on Sunday. Michael Siddall did the
same in FAI and limited the risks for his only remaining plane after he lost one
in a midair in Sayre. Xavier
